Today’s Modern Tool Boxes

Toolboxes are very handy equipment. The common metal toolboxes available are aluminum and stainless steel.

Tool box is a thing used to organize, carry, and protect the owner’s tools used for trade, as part of a hobby and commonly called as DIY or do- it yourself.

Modern tool boxes are usually made of metal or plastics. There are also wooden tool boxes made today but they are for special craftsmanship, for machinist tools and die makers, jewelers and other craftsmen. The wooden tool boxes were made available in 1800s but they were driven out of the market for the last 20 years. The modern carpenter’s tool box has a base, a hinged top cover, and generally has a rack-fixed inside for easy access. Stereotypical tool boxes are usually in color red.

Tool boxes are usually hand carried. It has an open smaller compartment located inside. A larger tool box often has a detachable tote receptacle on a flange that’s inside the top edge of the tool box, with one bigger compartment below.

As we all know metals are heavier than plastics; a metal tool box weighs more than a plastic tool box. A metal tool box may rust as all metals do turn to rust when it is old enough. Metal boxes also have sharp edges that can mark the surfaces of things they are banged against with but we should know that a metal tool box is much better in quality than a plastic one.

A simple tool box has a tote tray because it helps in organizing and some of these tote trays have dividers for segregation of small tools. Some tool boxes also have a compartment below the tote which makes your things have a lesser risk-damage. We must not forget that heavier items can damage the smaller ones.

There are also alternative toolboxes. These are toolsets, tool belts and aprons, auto carts and bucket organizers. Toolsets can help in organizing tools easily but their disadvantages are: have no ability to customize the selection of tools (sometimes the tools are of substandard quality than what one might buy individually); and smaller or no space to add new tools and supplies. Tool belts and aprons are insufficient for storing large number of tools. Bucket organizers may be light weight but the disadvantage is you can not just leave it in public places. The auto carts are utility carts having a pivoting base for storage in vehicles.

The common metal tool boxes available are aluminum and stainless steel. Aluminum toolbox can be found in pickup truck beds. A stainless steel toolbox is lighter in weight and it provides mobility. This kind of toolbox is used in homes and in commercial garages, race environments, and other applications. This is made especially for a clean room and corrosive-resistant surroundings due to their durability and completely stainless steel interior.

Plastic tool box is light weight, durable, handy and has many advantages. It is clear, break- resistant, and can open smoothly at a 45
