Furniture Designs by Preben Fabricius

Preben Fabricius is an art based industry that primarily specializes in worldwide auctioning of the different works of a Dane artist Preben Fabricius. The artist was in existence between 1931 and 1984.During this period, his interest in art related works gained recognition shortly after the founding of an art industry which bore the artist’s name.

Together with business associate Jorgen Kastholm whom Preben met at the school of Interior Design, the two assisted in making the world of furniture design. In 1961, they solidified their business partnership and founded their own architect’s bureau, specializing in furniture designing till his death in 1984. Preben Fabricius first underwent carpentry lessons under Nill Vodder who had made various furniture pieces over the years.

He later embarked on an architecture class thus gaining actual experience required in the field of arts. Preben Fabricius first served his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker with once master joiner Niel. This was in 1952 after he successfully completed his course at the school of Interior Design and having trained with some of the world’s recognized architects. His education contributed greatly to great furniture designs in the world.

Preben Fabricius acquired skills and experience that made him to be among the world’s most renowned art designers, and in 1969 one of his productions won an award. This contributed greatly and in turn led to an increase in sales. Products from Preben Fabricius were not only elegant and of high quality, but were also designed with consideration to quality and their functionality.

Despite the high competition in the global art market, the increase in sales of the Preben Fabricius products remained high. This was made possible, since the demand by the customers who admired their works remained high and thus continued to promote their great work.

Preben Fabricius and Jorgen Kastholm designs were greatly inspired by the functionality and steadfastness of past produced furniture design. This new design had a huge impact on the way adornment was done in the past years. This made the two architects dedicate themselves to producing furniture that optimized shape, quality and properties of materials used in designing among other factors.

Among the existing and great collection of furniture that the Preben Fabricius art industry produced and made huge profits from, is the FK87 Grasshopper chair. This lounge chair was made from chromed metal. It was available in canvas and had loose cushions and neck support in analin leather to maintain and ensure the user’s comfort. It was largely produced and sold in Denmark in 1967.

In 1968, Preben Fabricius had three great productions; the FK82 X-chair which posed similar features to those of FK 87 Grasshopper chair, the FK150 side board, and the FK 90 coffee table.

Preben Fabricius furniture designs are still in use in the modern world. The designer’s work is exhibited in international airports and airstrips and in the present art museum especially in New York. Preben Fabricius and his colleague have therefore played a big role in influencing the upcoming generation of architects and other furniture designers.
